I taught Joe for just one year, the last year of A level. Jo was a true linguist, he loved the rules and the exceptions and he was determined to understand all of the complexities. He could look a bit cross and forbidding while working things out but the smile that came when he did was a reward for all. His love of music was seen in his research topic for his oral exam where he taught me everything I know about Django Reinhardt. I will remember Joe every time I listen to that music again.  Rest in peace Joe.
