I was a friend of Joe’s on the internet back when we were 14 and 15. We talked pretty consistently in the summer of 2015 and into 2016. We had fan accounts on Instagram for various TV shows and YouTubers. Talking with him was always the highlight of my day despite the four-hour time difference. His talent and passion for music was so inspiring to me. He was so funny, charming, and compassionate. When I lost my account I lost contact with Joe, so I didn’t know about his untimely departure until very recently. Even though we hadn’t been in contact, I wondered about him from time to time and wished I had a way to reach him. It’s been years, but it feels like yesterday that we were dreaming/joking about flying the 3,771 miles to see each other. I was in a dark place when we met, but he always talked me through to the other side of my troubles. I’ll never forget the kindness he showed me.
